The officers of Ozurgeti District Division of Guria Police Department, as a result of operative-investigative actions, detained D.M., born in 1991, in Ozurgeti.
According to the ministry, he is accused of acts of a sexual nature committed against a family member under the age of fourteen with prior knowledge.
"The offense carries a maximum sentence of 15 to 20 years in prison.
The investigation established that the accused had committed a different sexual act against N.G., born in 2010, a minor child of his unregistered spouse. It was also found that D.M. systematically carried out this action against the minor.
As soon as the police received a report of a sexual offense against a minor, the Ozurgeti District Police Department immediately launched an investigation, and law enforcement officers arrested D.M.
The investigation is underway under Prima 11, Article 138, Part 2, Subparagraphs "v" and Part 4, Subparagraph "a" of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies acts of a sexual nature committed against a family member under the age of fourteen with prior knowledge," reads the information.
