"Police opened the case of illegal deprivation of liberty and rape of a minor in Marneuli municipality on the grounds of marriage - 3 people have been arrested," the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
"The officers of Kvemo Kartli Police Department of Marneuli District Division of MIA have detained three persons in Marneuli Municipality due to operative-investigative actions. Among arrested are A.O., born in 1995 charged with unlawful deprivation of liberty and rape with a group, A.G., born in 1998, A.O., born in 1988, charged with illegal deprivation of liberty as a group.
The investigation established that the defendants, illegally deprived liberty of F.A., born in 2005, living in one of the villages of Marneuli Municipality on the grounds of marriage and took to a relative's house, where A.O. raped a minor girl.
Police arrested all three accused the next day after the investigation started. The investigation is in progress under Article 143, Part 3, Subparagraphs "a" and "d" of the Criminal Code of Georgia, as well as Article 137, Part 4, Subparagraph "c," which means that by prior agreement, the group implies the unlawful deprivation of liberty committed against a juvenile with prior knowledge of the offender and the rape of a minor with prior knowledge," the agency said in a statement.
Crimes envisage imprisonment from 7 to 20 years or life in prison.
