According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the police arrested three people in Zugdidi for stealing a car.
"Officers of the Zugdidi District Division of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of complex investigative, operative and search activities carried out in Zugdidi Municipality, arrested three people charged with car theft: G.Ch., born in 1993, M.Sh., born in 1977, and L.Sh., born in 1991. The offense carries a maximum sentence of 6 to 10 years in prison.
The investigation revealed that on March 8 of 2021, the accused secretly stole a Nissan Navara belonging to a Turkish company in Zugdidi and hid it in the yard of the house of one of the accused in the village of Akhalsopeli. The accused disassembled the car into pieces for further sale. During the search, the law enforcers seized the stolen car and its parts as evidence. An investigation is underway into the theft committed against a vehicle under Article 177, Part 3, Subparagraph "d" and Part 4, Subparagraph "b" of the Criminal Code of Georgia," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.
