According to the data of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia on September 21, 120 thousand tons of grapes got processed in the Kakheti region. More than 60 wineries are involved in the grape processing process.
Due to the economic situation created as a result of the pandemic, by the decision of the Government of Georgia, Rkatsiteli and Kakhetian green grapes are subsidized.
All the wine companies that will buy and process at least 1 000 tons of Rkatsiteli or Kakhetian green grapes grown in the Kakheti region will receive the subsidy and pay at least GEL 0.80 to a viticulturist for 1 kg of grapes. In this case, wine companies will accept a subsidy of GEL 0.30 for both 1 kg of Rkatsiteli and 1 kg of Kakhetian green.
The harvest is entering its peak, which means that grapes' daily processing will be more than ten thousand tons.
