Nannies will be prohibited to work without certificates. The nanny certification rule will be developed by March 1, 2020, states the Code of Children's Rights.
As stated in the document the caregiver status to take care of a child or several children (up to 5 children) at home or outside of his / her legal representative and get paid for it will be the subject of voluntary certification. However a certified caregiver has the right to receive appropriate support from a social worker in raising a child / children.
The certification process will be led by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia.
Ana Abashidze, the Head of the Partnership for Human Rights told Report.ge that the state involvement should be expressed not only in checking the teacher's personal data, criminal records, mental health but the medical first aid skills needed to help children when needed.
