Economic Minister responds to US General Ben Hodges

''The statement by General Ben Hodges is wrong, as it does not rely upon right facts,'' Georgian Economic Minister Natia Turnava responded to US military serviceman's statement saying Georgia suspended the Anaklia Port Project due to Russia's pressure.

Turnava says the Anaklia Port Project is planned under the Georgian Constitution and represents the priority of the government.

She says the Georgian Dream ruling party will do its best to conduct the project complying with the interests of our country.

''The Georgian government shows readiness to support the Anaklia Port project implementation in all required modes, by providing funds, property, land plots, as well as from the legal and political point of view,'' Turnava said.

The Georgian government terminated the investment contract with the Anaklia Development Consortium on January 9, 2020.

General Ben Hodges says in his statement that the Georgian government does not correctly support the Anaklia Project and obeys the pressure by the Kremlin.
