The European Union is allocating € 1 billion for the development of innovative technologies to combat global warming. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said in her speech at the Climate Conference in Glasgow, where she presented an initiative on EU-US investment in green technologies.
She also noted that in at least 100 European cities by 2030, the EU intends to reduce carbon emissions to zero.
"I am pleased to announce that the European Union is investing € 1 billion in this initiative," she said. Ursula von der Leyen stressed that this initiative would try to attract the widest possible private investment in technology development, which will help fight global warming.
Glad to launch the #EUCatalystPartnership with @BillGates & @EIB's Werner Hoyer.
