Starting in the third quarter of 2020, the National Statistics Office will collect the employment and unemployment data according to the new methodology.

As Geostat Executive Director Gogita Todradze says, Georgia will consider only those as employed who sell their service or product.

It means that if a person cultivates an agricultural land plot and consumes his/her harvest for only personal and not commercial purposes, he/she will no longer have the status of an employed person.

Earlier, such people had the status of self-employed.

According to Todradze the people must not sell more than 50% of their product, adding the foreign countries have already introduced the new standard, including Armenia, Moldova, and EU countries.
