The oil sales have increased by 20-30% in June compared to Apr-May 2020, SOCAR Georgia Petroleum reports.

Specialists say there is a direct link between the lift of economic restrictions and the increase in fuel consumption.

SOCAR Georgia Petroleum Director Levan Giorgadze says the same.

Despite the sharply increasing sales rate, Giorgadze says that economic activity and fuel sales remain decreased from an annual point of view.

Levan Giorgadze says it is natural, as several business operators still work in a remote mode due to the novel coronavirus-cause restrictions.

He explains that the demand for fuel is a result of the tourism inactivity.

''Compared to April and May, fuel sales increased by 20-30% in June, but the activity remains dropped compared to 2019. It is natural, as offices still work remotely and tourism-related activities are zero,'' SOCAR Georgia Petroleum Director Levan Giorgadze told report.ge.
