Gas transits via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline up by 51%

Gas transits via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline have surged by 51%. The State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan data show that in January and March, 9,811 mln m3 gas was transported via Azerbaijan's main gas pipelines, with this surpassing the previous year's data by 12.8%.

The Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline transports a total of 46.3% of gas out of overall amounts. In the reporting period, 4,539,8 m3 gas was transported through this pipeline, which exceeds the amounts of the last year by 51.4%.

Gas obtained from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz gas field is transported to Turkey. Gas is supplied to the Turkish market via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline and the TANAP. 2007 marked the first provision of gas through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline to the Turkish market. Turkey was first with gas via the TANAP on 30 June 2018.
