Gazprom cuts gas transit to the EU via Ukraine by 20%

Gazprom, Russian majority state-owned multinational energy corporation, has cut the transit of gas to the EU via Ukraine and Poland by 20%. Director-General of the Ukrainian GTS Operator Sergiy Makogon has said this in his Facebook post, which is presented below:

"Gazprom reduces gas supply to the EU through Poland and Ukraine, so Europe set a record for gas selection from the reserves. It became the max since the beginning of the heating season, reaching 762 million cubic meters. A new record has also been set in the history of observation, i.e. since 2011 regarding gas raising for this day. The overall storage capacity since the beginning of the season has decreased to 62.9 billion cubic meters, which is 58.3 percent of the amount and 22 billion cubic meters less than last year.Meanwhile, "Gazprom" again did not start booking assistance in "Yamal-Europe" and reduced transit through Ukraine from 109 million m3 per day to 87.7 million.Decreasing gas supply to the EU at a time when its cost reached $2,000 says that these are not economic decisions, but rather political ones that aim to increase pressure on the EU to launch North Stream 2 on the terms of Russia."
