Georgia launches construction of Namakhvani HPP cascade

Georgia has launched preparatory work as part of the Namakhvani HPP cascade project in the Tskaltubo Municipality, Imereti region.

The Enka Renewables Company was granted the permit in April 2020.

The Namakhvani HPP cascade project includes two HPPs of 433-megawatt capacity. It will be carried out along the Rioni River in Tskaltubo and Tsageri municipalities.

The investment in the project equals 800 million USD.

The main shareholder of the project implementer ENKA Renewables company is ENKA, a Turkish company that has been operating for about 60 years.

A Norwegian Clean Energy Group company is also involved in the project.

The Namahwani HPP cascade will start operation in 2024. It will annually generate about 1,500.00 giga-watt.
