Georgia opens 64 agrarian markets amid easing lockdown

As reported by the National Food Agency of Georgia, the government has already opened 64 out of all nationwide-registered agrarian markets as it launched easing lockdown.

Reports say that large-scale renovation work preceded the opening, conducted by the administrations of the markets following the Food Agency recommendations.

The administrations conduced cleaning efforts, renovation work, demolition of old counters in the markets. They took the waste away and launched daily disinfecting work, controlling the protective equipment of the staff and clients.

''The agency inspectors continuously control the markets,'' a statement by the National Food Agency reads.

The Georgian government started easing the nationwide lockdown due to the novel coronavirus pandemic on April 27.

The agrarian markets remained closed since the beginning of April.
