Georgia's entire external debt has hit $21 bln (GEL 65.7 bln) on 30 Sept 2021, which is 120.1% of the Gross Domestic Product of the last four quarters. Report News Agency has released information, referring to the National Bank of Georgia. 

In the third quarter of 2021, Georgia's entire external debt rose by $130.9 mln. Out of this, operational changes have led to an increase by $234.6 mln, while other changes have resulted in increases of debts by $28.3 million. 

External debts amounted to $10.4 bln (GEL 32.6 bln), which is 59.6% of the GDP. Out of this, the government sector's debt equals USD 7.7 bln, while the National Bank's monetary obligations stand at $965.7 mln. 

External debts of the banking sector total $4.3 bln, while other sectors' external debts hit $4.8 bln, and intercompany debts equal $3.2 bln. 

Georgia's net external debts amount to USD 12.9 bln or GEL 40.4 bln, which is 73.8% of the last four quarters. The net external debts of the state sector are 6.3 bln or GEL 19.8 bln (36.1% of the GDP). 

In the third quarter of 2021, the Georgian National Bank's external debt grew by $275.9 mln. Operational changes have led to an increase by $286.3 mln, while currency changes have resulted in the reduction of external debts by $10.4 million.

External debts of the national bank stood at $965.7 mln, while other sectors' external debts totaled $4.8 bln.
