
In April 2020, imports in Georgia saw a record decline as it dropped by 38.5%.
As the National Statistics Office reports, in April 2020, Georgia purchased products from abroad, and the value of the purchased products totaled $458 million.
It is $286.8 million less than it was in the same period of 2019.
In January – April, the import rate hit 2.46 bln USD, being 11.8% less than in the 2019 same period.
The volume of imports of seven out of key ten imported goods declined:
1. Cars - $186.1 million (-23.4%)
2. Oil and oil products - 171.1 million USD (-19%)
3. Copper ores and concentrates - 166.1 million USD (-14.6%)
4. Natural gas - 157.7 million USD (+ 1% compared to the same period in 2019)
5. Medicines in packages - 110.6 million USD (-8.5%)
6. Mobile phones (smartphones) - 50.6 million USD (-1.3%)
7. Electricity - 30.6 million USD (+ 12.9%)
8. Wheat - 27.4 million USD (-15.7%)
9. Rubber pneumatic hoops and tires (new) - 23.4 million USD (-14.5%)
10. Trucks - 21.9 million USD (+ 19.7%)
11. The rest of imported goods - only 1.5 billion USD (-11.3%).
