During the negotiations between the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation, and SOCAR, on behalf of the Georgian government, it was agreed that Georgia would receive 200 million cubic meters of gas for social purposes at a reduced rate.

The corresponding agreement, which has been in force since 2016, was signed by Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Natia Turnava, General Director of the state-owned energy company – Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC) Giorgi Bakhtadze, and President of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev.

The Administration of the Government of Georgia says that thanks to the agreement, the Georgian government will manage to retain a stable gas price for a longer period of time.

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia has met with Rovnag Abdullayev, the CEO of Azerbaijan's SOCAR oil company today.

The meeting participants focused on good neighborly relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan and existing partnerships in various areas. They stressed the significance of investment projects carried out in Georgia by the SOCAR company and the prospects of deepening cooperation. It was noted that Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation has cooperated with the SOCAR in the field of natural gas successfully, with this resulting in the completion of the agreement to stabilize the price of natural gas for social purposes in the country.
