Georgian business faces barriers

Managing partner of the National Laboratory of Genetics of Georgia, Giorgi Chaladze says that the Georgian business faces most problems due to the highest interest rates.

According to Chaladze, improper bank administration represents an obstacle to the development of the companies as they spend 90% of their incomes to pay bank liabilities.

''The banks should maintain the right position and take into account that they differ from pawn shops… The current interest rates are unacceptable. A person must not be afraid of taking a loan because of high-interest rate,'' Giorgi Chaladze says.

As he adds, international companies are in better condition due to more access to the funds.

''For the business, it is important to find contacts and determine the right priorities,'' he said.

The National Laboratory of Genetics started operation in May 2017, is the first laboratory in Georgia diagnosing complex genetic diseases.
