Georgian government allows ENKA Company to submit construction documents a year later

The Ministry of Economy of Georgia has extended the term for submitting the Namakhvani HPP construction documents, and now ENKA company has a year more than the previously determined time to do so.

The Social Justice Center has defined the decision as ungrounded testifying that statements on meticulous study of the project are false. Plus, according to the statement by the center, the process shows the real reason behind declaring a 9-12 month moratorium on building the dam.

''The allowed delay of the construction actually has nothing to do with the compromise between the government and the company. It just proves that the company failed to submit proper construction documents on time and required the extension of the term,'' the statement reads.

ENKA Company had to present the corresponding documents not later than 13 April. However, after it failed to do so, the Ministry of Economy of Georgia extended the term before 28 February 2022.
