As founder of Hotels and Restaurants Federation of Georgia Shalva Alaverdashvili told report.ge, almost all of the Georgian hotels have halved prices.

In his words, the Abastumani resort is the only place with increased prices.

''Hotel prices in Batumi have never been this low. The five-star hotels offer service by about 50 GEL. We suppose apartments and cottages will be highly demanded this year, as people feel there safer and will be less bothered with regulations,'' Alaverdashvili said, adding only 15% of the hotels operate currently.

He assessed 2020 as a year of survival for the hotels.

Georgia opened domestic tourism on June 15, while it plans to host foreign visitors starting on July 1.
