Georgia hosts the UN World Tourism Executive Council session #112.

Georgian PM Giorgi Gakharia opened the session with his speech.

After greeting, Gakharia highlighted that Georgia had become the first country, after Spain, which hosts a pandemic session.

In his words, Georgia is proud of hosting the session, as Georgia and UNWTO have been successful partners for many years that become 'more and more fruitful.'

He thanked UN Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili for his contribution to holding the session in Tbilisi.

In Gakharia's words, the novel coronavirus pandemic harmed tourism mostly, but Georgia was a leader in previous years.

He notified the international community about Georgia's two goals: protecting Georgians' lives and maintaining the economy.

''Georgia gained a green zone status and represents one of the safest countries… it allows us to start a new phase of economic development… we want to be pioneers in the restoration of tourism for the experience we have,'' he claimed.

High-rank officials from Spain, Greece, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, and other countries participate in the UNWTO session.
