How does Georgia distribute financial aid?

Hundred of thousands of people affected by COVID-19 remain without government financial support.

As was expected, some people have not received the money.

Economic experts say it is an error of the anti-crisis plan; adding the compensation process is underway slowly; the resource is distributed unevenly, and a significant part of the population fails to enjoy the financial aid.

Economist Zviad Khorguashvili says that numerous people that have lost their jobs will be in hardship, as they cannot receive the minimum compensation.

In his words, the government aids a few people, and it cannot mitigate the entire situation.

''The government says itself that 250,000 people receive the financial aid out of 840,000 self-employed people,'' he declares, adding that the government should follow a different principle when issuing the money.

''The money was distributed unfairly,'' he said.

As of June 11, 2020, a total of 132,000 self-employed registered to receive compensation.

A total of 66,660 people have already received a 300-GEL compensation, as the government has already transferred 19 998 000 GEL from the budget.
