According to the Global Hunger Index Results of 2019, Georgia is the 39th out of 117 countries. The study is being conducted by Concern Worldwide and covers 117 countries. High-income countries are not included in the survey. Georgia's hunger index has improved in 2019 compared to 2005, though 2019 has worsened in comparison to 2010.

The index is based on 4 criteria: inadequate nutrition, lack of weight in children, child hunger and child mortality.

Results of Georgia:

- Inadequate nutrition of population - 7.9%;

- Starving children under the age of 5 - 4.3%;

- Children under 5 who stopped growth - 10.5%;

- Mortality rate under 5 years - 1.1%

According to the Global Hunger Index Results of 2019 Turkmenistan, Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan are behind Georgia.

The alarming situation is in 47 countries, especially in the Central African Republic.
