Ilham Aliyev says TANAP project completed by 92%

''I want to thank our partners – Georgia, Turkey, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, and Albania. These countries have close relationships with Azerbaijan.

The unique collaboration shows that a common goal can unify us. The meeting held with the Georgian PM in January 2020 enabled us to plan our further strategy regarding the Southern Gas Corridor,'' President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said during the sixth session of the Southern Gas Corridor Consultation Board.

In his words, the TANAP project has been completed due to the joint efforts of the parties. The Azerbaijani gas is currently on the Turkish-Greek border, and it represents an essential part of the joint mega project. Aliyev hopes that the TAP part of the project will be launched at the end of 2020.

According to Aliyev, the work has been almost over (completed by 92%), and all project-involved countries will celebrate the completion of the Southern Gas Corridor project.

The TANAP gas pipeline will transit 16 billion cubic meters of natural gas per annum, while the volume will reach 23 and 31 billion cubic meters by 2021 and 2026, respectively. The TAP part construction of the TANAP pipeline has been almost over, and the Azerbaijani gas will be supplied to Italy and then will be distributed in entire Europe.

All this means that the Southern Gas Corridor, including the Trans Anatolia (TANAP) and Trans Adriatic (TAP) pipeline has come to an end.

The pipeline of 3,5 thousand km begins in the Shah Deniz mine on the Caspian Shelf.

The Shah Denis has a gas supply of 1,2 trillion cubic meters. Specialists say Europe has an alternative of Russian gas through Shah Deniz.
