"For Azerbaijan, our neighbors and Europe, the completion of the Southern Gas Corridor project was a historic achievement, as it is an important factor in Europe's energy security and a tool for diversification," the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said in his speech at the opening of the VIII Global Forum in Baku.
In the first ten months of 2021, Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan transported more than 14 billion cubic meters of gas through the Southern Gas Corridor to Turkey, Georgia, Italy, Greece, and Bulgaria. It can be said that half of this volume was used by EU consumers.
"The countries supplied by Azerbaijani with gas had no price crisis, and no one has been frozen. This proves once again that the Southern Gas Corridor is an energy security project," Ilham Aliyev said.
