As head of the information and consulting center for farmers in Kazbegi, Kakha Janukashvili says, a total of 140 hectares of land has been cultivated in Kazbegi, and 99% of the area was used mainly for potato.

Additionally, 20 hectares will include potato seeds in this season.

Besides, eggplants, broccoli, and cauliflower will also be cultivated.

''The activity is a kind of innovation for these people, but they still have problems in terms of seeds, the population has no certified seeds yet. They purchase the seed in the market. Some of them bring it from Samtskhe-Javakheti. Certified potato seed costs 4 GEL (1 kg), and it is costly. Thus, the people used the local seed material. I cannot say yet how it will end, but I can state that the production pace will improve. More land plots have been cultivated. The pandemic fears of food deficit made people active,'' he said.

''Kazbegi potato is highly demanded as it is pure. The soil is very fruitful,'' he says.
