PM presents Georgia as free trade area at World Economic Forum

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakhria highlighted the outcomes Georgia has shown for the latest five years at the World Economic Forum in the Swiss town of Davos.

According to him, Georgia is a free trade area enjoying free trade deal and visa-free travel with the EU.

''We face obstacles in terms of safety and economy. We plan to enable our citizens to feel the economic outcomes individually, to provide them with tangible, real benefit,'' he said, adding this is the most critical priority for the Georgian government.

''We consider Georgia as a platform for the large countries to enjoy freight turnover. We realize that investments in the Georgian economy mean the safety of our country,'' PM Gakharia said.

In his words, Georgia detects problems in the Black Sea, which represents the main priority for Georgia and NATO as well.

''We perceive Georgia as a partner of the West,'' he added.

PM Gakharia highlighted the vital role Georgia can play in terms of safety.

''We require more intense cooperation with the EU. Therefore, we should focus on connections... We have a free trade area but have no land borders with the EU. It causes severe problems that require resolution, which is our goal, and we will increase the connection level via the Black Sea shortly,'' Gakharia said.

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia delivered his speech at the discussion called New Ambitions for Europe on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.
