The collaboration of Azerbaijan, Georgia and turkey has resulted in the positioning of the region, - Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani said in his speech at Ambassadors’ Conference 2019.

He said the regional cooperation has deepened in 2019 and Prime Minister’s visits to Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey and Ukraine were of utmost significance as well as the trilateral ministerial of Azerbaijan-Turkey-Georgia.

According to the Foreign Minister the cooperation of the three neighbors has turned the countries into the key energy countries of the transit hub.

‘The official opening of TANAP was the key milestone of the year that is aimed at meeting the Europe and Turkey’s natural gas requirements and diversifying the natural gas supply ways. It allows Georgia to receive practical benefit with the natural gas and enjoy the additional function as that of a transit country,’ he said.

Zalkaliani has focused on the joint deal signed by Georgia, Romania, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in Bucharest regarding the development of the Caspian – Black Sea Transport hub and third Silk Road Forum of Tbilisi.

As Azerbaijani media outlets report, the first phase of the TANAP pipeline was activated on June 12, 2018 in Turkish Eskişehir Province and launched supplying Turkey with commercial gas in June 2018.

The volume of gas transported to Turkey via TANAP reached 3.08 cubic meters in the end of October 2019.

The initial capacity of the TANAP pipeline is 16 billion cubic meter gas per annum.

Up to six billion cubic meter is transferred to Turkey and the rest – to Europe.
