After Georgia's opposition commented on the revision of a contract with GAZPROM, experts also responded to the fact.

Analyst and economic expert Gia Khukhashvil says that the dependence on Russia is hazardous, but the government will allegedly consider it.

He says it is also vague how it would be possible to revise the agreement, as the parties may fail to reach any agreement.

'The gas price drop would not be bad as it somehow concerns tariffs, but the relationship with Russia contains high risks," he says.

"However, Azerbaijan remains a reliable and strong partner for Georgia in any trade relations, moreover, when it comes to energy issues," Khukhashvili emphasizes.

Energy Expert Temur Chichinadze says that the contract revision may lead to the only benefit to Georgia: the gas price.

Chichinadze says that Russia is an unreliable partner, and the government must take it into account.

"Ukraine and Russia are enemies, but Ukraine still buys gas. The gas tariff is too high in Georgia, and the market diversification will significantly support the tariff drop, but the hazards must be assessed adequately,'' he says, adding that Russia controls the energy issue, and the revision of the contract is not a bad idea.

"Obviously, Azerbaijan is Georgia's main partner in the gas segment, and it will always be, but I cannot see any problem in purchasing gas from Russia as well,'' Chichinadze says.

As Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava stated earlier, the Georgian government and GAZPROM would revise the contract on collaboration to reduce the gas price.

She said the price is planned to decrease by 15%.
