''All rural residents planning to launch small business will receive about 30,000-GEL sponsorship,'' Georgian PM Giorgi Gakharia said when presenting an anti-crisis economic plan.

In his words, the government should focus on agriculture, as it is one of the essential components.

''The development of local production is becoming of critical significance to meet local demands, and the agriculture maintains one of the leading functions in this respect,'' Gakharia said.

The government launched the micro-financing program several years ago, and it was the most successful program.

''It was launched with 5,000 GEL and reached 15 and 20 thousand GEL afterwards. Today we decided to increase the limit to 30,000 GEL, and the portfolio to hit 40 million,'' he added.

''It means a real, tangible aid to rural residents that decide to embark on small business,'' Gakharia stated.

The Georgian government presented an anti-crisis plan today and offered assistance to both natural and legal entities.

The government plans to spend 3,5 billion GEL for crisis management.

The Georgian government will provide commercial banks with 600 million GEL.

Following the decision of the government, it will lift the economic restrictions in three phases.

Prime Minister Gakharia also stated that the government would change the co-financing mechanism of the 'Produce in Georgia' program, as the government involvement in the interest rate has increased.
