"SOCAR is ready to share the capabilities of the Southern Gas Corridor pipeline systems and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline with Turkmen companies," the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev made the statement today at the International Investment Forum in the Oil and Gas Sector of Turkmenistan. According to Abdullayev, using the great potential of these energy corridors to transport the richest Turkmen resources to international markets is commercially profitable for all parties.
The President of SOCAR praised the importance of the Southern Gas Corridor at the forum and said that it is a strategic project for importing countries and in terms of the energy security of European countries. According to him, the project is no less important for suppliers because the corridors give them access to new markets with huge potential for consumption, which is very important from a marketing or commercial point of view.
"Suppliers through these energy corridors will achieve a high level of commercial independence and get the opportunity to sell gas in the most optimal conditions. The Southern Gas Corridor is distinguished by the fact that it is an international project without any discrimination and is open to all friendly countries who want to be a part of it, both by consumers and gas suppliers," Abdullayev noted.
According to the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), the investment cost of the 3,500-kilometer southern gas corridor is worth about $ 33 billion. This energy corridor covered seven countries and connected the Caspian region with South-Eastern Europe. According to Rovnag Abdullayev, the Southern Gas Corridor has a significant role in Europe's energy security and environment.
