Solar panels are being installed at SOCAR gas stations. According to the company, environmental protection is one of the five standards of their corporate responsibility. A few weeks ago, within the framework of the program, solar panels got installed at another important SOCAR facility, a gas station located on the Tbilisi Sea. It is the second gas station in Tbilisi, which operates using solar energy. Solar panels installed on the roof of gas stations allow up to 48 thousand kWh of energy per year, which means that the annual emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere will be 28.7 tons less.
In order to design solar panels and install them at gas stations, SOCAR invited experienced specialists from Sonnenschmied from Germany. On the Tbilisi Sea and Agmashenebeli Alley, at the SOCAR gas stations near the Botanical Institute, the energy generated by solar panels will be consumed by the gas station electric car charger and "Way Mart" retail centers.
SOCAR also plans to set up fast-charging centers for electric vehicles with solar panels.
