The Economic Council is now discussing the strategy for opening the economy. The meeting is presided over by Giorgi Gakharia, who presented the plan for reopening tourism. In his words, global competition among countries for attracting tourists has already been launched, and Georgia has to be one of the first reopening tourism as it proves a profitable field.
Gakharia stressed that tourism constitutes a key element of the anti-crisis plan, and the post-crisis plan must also be related to it.
After reopening tourism, the government intends to present the agricultural sector supporting package within its post-crisis plan. The construction sector comes next, followed by the education filed, with all this set to be discussed within ten days, according to Gakharia.
