The Government of Georgia and insurance industry officials consider the offer to tourists arriving in Georgia of an individual insurance package, including COVID-19 insurance.
The insurance cost has not yet been defined.
Chairman of the Association of Insurance Companies Devi Khechinashvili says the tariff will be - 1-1.5 USD per day, as it is in other countries.
"When Georgia opens its border for international travelers, the mandatory insurance from COVID-19 should apply. We do not mean residents; this change will apply only to foreign citizens. It should be compulsory health insurance, including COVID-19. The product will be available to all foreign tourists," Khechinashvili added.
As it was reported yesterday, Georgia would not open international tourism from July 1.
The government delayed the resumption of regular flights until the end of July.
