The U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration is looking for the first participants in a simulation to test viability on Mars.

The experiment participants will have to live in a special place created on Earth, simulated Mars, from October 2022.

The experiment will last for three years. The simulation will take place in three stages. During each stage, participants in the experiment will have to stay on Mars for one year.

Stage 1 - Early Autumn 2022

Phase 2 - Beginning of 2024

Phase 3 - Beginning of 2025

"Simulating an alien habitat on Earth will help us better understand and avoid the physical and psychological challenges that astronauts will face after moving to Mars," says Grace Douglas, Assistant Researcher at the Houston and Johnson Space Center.

U.S. citizens between the ages of 30 and 55 are eligible to participate in the experiment. Experiment participants must also have a master's degree in engineering, mathematics, biology, physics, or computer science.
