A student and a staff member at Tbilisi Public School No.32 have tested positive for the new coronavirus, with this resulting in the school administration's decision to replace face-to-face classes with online teaching. The infected student has not reportedly attended classes for a week, and the staff member has also been exempt from job-related obligations for a week. 

A six-grader at Tbilisi School No.52 has also tested positive for the novel virus. However, here the headteacher said that, following recommendations by the NCDC, suspension of classes was not mandatory. 

Georgia recorded 472 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours to bring the total tally to 10,225. The country has so far registered 66 deaths (three recent), 5,553 recoveries (318 recent). 

The first case of the new coronavirus was reported on 26 February 2020. The WHO labeled the virus a pandemic on 11 March 2020. China witnessed its outbreak in December of 2019. The country confirmed that the virus is contagious on 21 January and declared quarantine in its two cities.
