Health experts say that underage post-COVID patients have shown serious complications. Patients under 19 face a coronavirus complication known as a multisystem inflammatory syndrome.

Giorgi Ghoghoberidze, the lecturer of Biochemistry and Pharmacology who is into his medical oncology residency, says that minors start to suffer from multisystem inflammatory syndrome two or six weeks after recovering from the novel virus. He also added that it damages all vital organs, such as the lower chambers of the heart, brain, lungs, and kidneys. It also causes low blood pressure and, in the worst-case scenario, shock.

Timely treatment of patients is the best tool in doctors' hands to avoid worst-case scenarios. However, pharmacies in Georgia have run out of anti-inflammatory medicine known as intravenous immunoglobulin, and Allergist/Immunologist Bidzina Kulumbegoc calls upon the government to purchase it in the shortest possible time.

Pediatrician and Director of Iashvili Children Hospital Ivane Chkaidze said that Georgia has already seen tens of patients suffering from the multisystem inflammatory syndrome, and as many as 42 underage patients were admitted to the hospital in a month; however, no lethal cases have been detected in the country.
