"During the last 24 hours, 45 patients died due to complications caused by the coronavirus in Georgia," Alexandre Khojevanishvili, the Chief of the Operational Staff at the Interagency Coordination Council, said at a briefing at the Government Administration.

"Unfortunately, 45 people have died in Georgia in the last 24 hours, including 18 in Tbilisi, 14 in Adjara, 7 in Imereti, 3 in Kvemo Kartli, 2 in Kakheti, and 1 in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti. We have a total of 566 cases of death starting from February 26, 2020," Khojevanishvili explained.

The number of people infected with coronavirus in Georgia has increased by 2 911 in 24 hours, with the number of confirmed cases reaching 66 561.

2 421 people recovered in the country. Their number increased to 49 811.

The first case of coronavirus got detected on February 26, 2020, in Georgia.

The World Health Organization recognized coronavirus as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.

The outbreak of pneumonia in China began in December of 2019.
