Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili has responded to assault on journalist Vakho Sanaia by posting the following statement on her official Facebook page:
"Violence in any form is absolutely unacceptable!
Violence in a time of polarization and confrontations is even more inadmissible and can never be justified! I address law enforcement agencies and call for a timely investigation of the offense. The offenders must be held responsible, and violence never encouraged."
Intoxicated citizens have recently assaulted journalist Sanaia and his wife. Three offenders were detained shortly after the crime was committed.
