The World Health Organization has recommended two new drugs to treat coronavirus infection - baricitinib and sotrovimab. An announcement about this was published on WHO's website.

Baricitinib is a synthetic drug belonging to the group of Janus Kinase inhibitors and is administered orally. It is "recommended" for patients with severe or critical illness with corticosteroids.

The monoclonal antibody drug Sotrovimab is recommended for people with a mild course of coronavirus.

The efficacy of the drug against new variants, namely the omicron strain, has not yet been established.
