The Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia has exposed ten persons to the fact of misappropriation of state property by a group with the prior agreement, using forged official documents.
"The head of the company operating on the territory of Shida Kartli, with the prior agreement of the employees, submitted zero income tax declarations to the Revenue Service. According to the declaration, due to the existing restrictions during the pandemic, the enterprise employees did not seem to be engaged in activities which s why they demanded GEL 200 compensations defined by the relevant resolution of the Government of Georgia.
The persons employed in the mentioned enterprise continued their activities as usual, and in order to obtain illegal material benefits, in the form of compensation, they fraudulently misappropriated the state-owned funds," the statement said.
According to the agency, the investigation is underway under the second part of Articles 180 and 362 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment for a term of 4 to 7 years.
