According to the MIA, law enforcement officers have detained a man, known only as I.M., (DOB 1992), in the Sakulia village, Tskaltubo municipality.
''Investigators determined that a defendant assaulted and physically abused a police officer carrying out his duties on the Anti-Namakhvani HPP rally site in the village of Gumati, Tskaltubo municipality on 29 May of the current year.
Locals offered resistance to police officers when I.M. was detained; following this the police have applied the corresponding measure in compliance with the legislation,'' the information reads.
An investigation is underway, with the perpetrator facing from four to seven years in jail.
