The law enforcers arrested previously convicted N.Ch., born in 1987, on charges of intentional grievous bodily harm, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.

"The investigation established that the accused in April of this year wounded D.N., born in 1971 in the chest using a cold weapon after a dispute in the village of Chumlaki, Gurjaani Municipality; the wounded man was taken to hospital where appropriate medical care was provided.

The police seized the weapon of the crime - the knife as evidence," the statement said.

According to the agency, the investigation is underway under Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which stipulates severe intentional damage to health.

The offense carries a maximum sentence of 3 to 6 years in prison.
