"In places where protesters went beyond peaceful demonstrations and where the entrances to state institutions were blocked, the police took appropriate measures provided by law," the head of the patrol police Vazha Siradze told journalists.
He said a total of 46 people were arrested at the rally for administrative offenses, disobeying a lawful request from the police, insulting police, and petty hooliganism.
"As you know, the Law of Georgia on Assembly and Manifestation prohibits blocking the entrance to state institutions. Accordingly, we called on the protesters that this is a violation of the law; in this case, I am talking about the situation near the State Security Service building," Vazha Siradze said.
The opposition held protest rallies in front of the Ministry of Justice, State Security Service, and the Ministry of Health. The protesters demanded a meeting with the heads of the mentioned agencies and for Mikheil Saakashvili to be taken to the civil clinic.
