An agreement on social gas tariff optimization has been reached with SOCAR. The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia reports the information.

According to them, on the instruction of the Government of Georgia, through negotiations between the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Oil and Gas Corporation, and SOCAR, Georgia will receive so-called social gas of 200 million cubic meters from Azerbaijan at a reduced tariff.

"As a result of the agreement, the Georgian government will be able to maintain the stability of the natural gas price for the population for a longer time," the agency said.

The change in the social gas supply contract, which has been in force since 2016, was signed by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava, the General Director of the Oil and Gas Corporation Giorgi Bakhtadze, and the President of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev.

Yesterday the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia met with the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic SOCAR, Rovnag Abdullayev. During the meeting, special attention was paid to the investment projects implemented by SOCAR in Georgia and the prospects for deepening future cooperation.
