In 2019, container turnover in Georgia’s ports grew by 42.7%.

Financial Director of the Anaklia Development Consortium Giorgi Chugoshvili wrote on his Facebook page that the throughput of the Batumi and Poti ports stands at 650,000 TEU, with its utilization being 99.6%. Accordingly, the ports will fail to meet the market requirements in 2020.

The total amount handled by both ports exceeded that of handled in 2018 by 167,795 TEU. A record number of containers has been passed through both ports. As per the official data, 647,812 TEUs of containers were handled in the Batumi and Poti ports.

The Poti port has handled 531,731 TEUs of containers, with the increase being 46.1%, while in Batumi a total of 116,081 TEUs of containers have been received, with the increase amounting to 29%.
