A team of scientists from Kyoto Prefectural University in Japan has developed an innovative device that detects coronavirus, the Japanese news agency Kyodo News writes.

According to the publication, it is possible to identify the coronavirus on the surface with ultraviolet light.

University President hopes to offer users an easy way to test whether they have been infected with the coronavirus or not.

Antibodies from ostrich eggs have reportedly been used to make masks. In February last year, a group of scientists artificially infected a female ostrich with coronavirus and took antibody samples from her eggs. The team then developed a special filter that was placed on the mask. In the presence of coronavirus, the mask glows green under ultraviolet light.

A team of scientists is waiting for permission from the Japanese government to start a large-scale production.
