According to the publication, this rather expensive drug is a mixture of two types of antibodies obtained in the laboratory, which is administered intravenously and helps the body neutralize the virus.
It belongs to a class of drugs called monoclonal antibodies. To fight infections, they mimic the body's natural antibodies.
The use of this drug is recommended for those infected who are at high risk of hospitalization and also for critically ill patients who do not have natural antibodies.
It is also allowed as a preventative measure for people who are not fully vaccinated or belong to the number of immunocompromised individuals who have had contact with an infected person.
In September of 2021, the World Health Organization recommended a cocktail treatment with Regeneron monoclonal antibodies for certain categories of patients infected with the coronavirus.
The UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has approved the use of Ronapreve for the treatment of COVID-19. The drug was developed by the company Roche and Regeneron.
In July of 2021, Japan became the first country to authorize the use of the drug Ronapreve. Laboratory tests have shown that the risk of hospitalization or death was reduced by 70% after using the drug. The course of the symptoms of the disease itself reached four days.
