Israeli archaeologists found dozens of new fragments of scrolls containing the Bible text in a desert cave near the Dead Sea on Tuesday. They probably got hid before 1900, when the Jews revolted against Rome.
Fragments of parchment contain the Greek text of the books of Zechariah and Nahum. According to researchers, the scrolls date back to the 2nd century. The discovery, presumably, belongs to parchment fragments discovered in "Cave of Horror" in 1960, where the skeletons of 40 people were found. Greek texts by 12 preachers were also found there.
Fragments in the cave probably were placed in the cave during the revolt of Simon bar Kokhba, during the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian, in 132 - 136.
