Archaeologists discovered 11 more large artificial hills near the complex of one of the oldest temples in the world - Göbeklitepe in Turkey, Daily Sabah reports.

The found objects are located 100 kilometers from each other and were built about 12 thousand years ago.

Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy told reporters that scientists had named the area "12 Hills". Its second name is "Pyramids of Southeastern Turkey."

"This region has a unique culture," Ersoy said, adding that a major survey of the hills would be completed soon, and a detailed report would be released in September.

Göbeklitepe has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011 and was first discovered in 1963 by archaeologists from Istanbul and Chicago.
