Moscow hosted a trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia. The talks held by Sergey Lavrov, Jeyhun Bayramov, and Zohrab Mnatsakanyan were in a closed format.

The negotiations referred to the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone.

During the meeting, Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed on a ceasefire for humanitarian purposes.

The agreement includes four points:

1. A ceasefire is declared from 12:00 PM on October 10, 2020, for humanitarian purposes for the exchange of prisoners of war and other detained persons and bodies of the dead, mediated, and by the criteria of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

2. The parties will agree on specific parameters of the ceasefire regime.

3. The Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, with the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, based on the basic principles of the settlement, begin substantive negotiations to reach a peaceful settlement as soon as possible.

4. The parties confirm the invariability of the format of the negotiation process.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited the Foreign Minister of Armenia and Azerbaijan to Moscow to consult on the conflict.
